Glossary-2
Tag that links the OSx database with a particular recipe area (a group of
recipe components such as ingredients and processes).
A field that represents specific data associated with a tag in the OSx
database, sometimes called a column. A typical database might, for
example, have a column that represents a loop process variable.
The acronym for American Standard Code for Information Interchange is a
widely-used system for encoding letters, numerals, punctuation marks, a nd
signsasbinarynumbers.
Tag parameter that determines whether the system generates a log
message when the associated attribute value changes in the database.
OSx feature that provides for an automatic transfer of the primary role to
a previously designated backup if the primary fails while the system is in
Operate state. For an automatic failover to work, a failover circuit (25-pin
ribbon connector and 24V power source) must have been installed between
the primary and the backup.
Parameter in the Event Preferences dialog box that determines whether
OSx goes to the Operate or Offline state at powerup.
The OSx station with the backup role assumes the role of primary if the
primary fails (failover). Only one supervisory station can be assigned
the backup role at a given time. You must have installed a failover circuit
before you designate an OSx station as the backup.
Process control by means of a recipe, which contains all the variables used
to make a product. The goal of batch processing is to use the same
equipment to make multiple “batches” of the same product or of different
products.
Language used in writing programs that control batches.
Tag that identifies a batch.
A program written in Batch Control Language (BCL) and used to
monitor and control batches.
A system using combinations of two symbols to represent things, such as
one and zero, true and false, or the presence or absence of voltage.
The smallest unit o f information in a computer, equivalent to a single zero
or one.
