Relational Database Management System. The local RDBMS is the OSx
database. The RDT option enables OSx to exchange data over a local
network with a third-party RDBMS. Local RDBMS components i nclude
pre-compilers and a network management tool. Remote RDBMS refers to
the third-party database on the remote system. The remote RDBMS
includes a utility that serves as an interface between the remote database
and the network.
The optional RDT (Remote Data Transfer) feature allows events to trigger
automatically the transfer of OSx data to and from a database located on a
remote computer.
The process by which the central processor of a computer examines data in
memory or transfers data to memory from an input medium, such as a
floppy disk.
Permanent internal memory containing data or operating instructions that
cannot be altered.
A number with decimal places. For example, 2.0 or 10.234.
A plot of continuous or digital data points that shows current tag values.
The system automatically updates the display.
OSx feature that allows multiple sets of component values to be assigned for
a particular production process.
Analogous to a tag element in APT. A recipe component identifies one of the
variables in a recipe, such as ingredient, processing parameter, or control
mechanism.
A group of data in the OSx database that is equivalent to a table.
Contains data related to the remote system, for example, engineering data
or management statistics. Typically, the data in this system is stored and
referenced by the relation name and attribute. Used with RDT.
In the OSx Merge Utility, the act of deleting all files on an OSx system
pertaining to a particular merge operation.
Refers to the state the SIMATIC PCS 7 system enters automatically when
you make changes in the tag capacities.
